Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
- Account information. When you sign up we collect your name and email address. Sign-in is handled by our identity provider, Clerk; if you use “Continue with Google,” we receive the name and email Google shares. We do not store your password — credentials are managed by Clerk.
- Location. The ZIP code you enter, or — only if you choose “use my location” — your device’s approximate location from your browser. We use this to find nearby stores and rank results by distance. We do not track your location in the background.
- Usage & activity. Your searches and the lead actions you take (calling a store, getting directions, opening a retailer), and items you add to your watchlist so we can send price alerts.
- Documents you upload. If you use the invoice or take-off tools, the document and its text are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract line items. We do not use your uploads to train models.
- Payment information. If you subscribe, payments are handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing details (such as subscription status); we do not store your full card number.
- Automatically collected. Basic device and usage analytics (via PostHog) and error diagnostics (via Sentry) to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
2. How we use it
We use your information to provide gated features, find stores near you, send the price-drop alerts you opt into, process subscriptions, secure accounts, understand and improve product usage, and contact you about the Service. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Service providers we share with
We share data with vendors who process it on our behalf, only as needed to run the Service:
- Clerk — account authentication and management.
- Stripe — subscription payment processing.
- Search & data providers (e.g. SerpApi) — to return live pricing and store results for your queries.
- Anthropic — to analyze invoices and take-off documents you upload.
- Resend — to send account and price-alert emails.
- PostHog (analytics) and Sentry (error monitoring) — to improve and maintain the Service.
- Hosting & database providers — to run our infrastructure.
When you act on a listing you are handed off to that retailer, whose own privacy practices then apply. We may also disclose information if required by law.
4. Cookies & analytics
We use cookies from our authentication provider to keep you signed in; these are essential to the Service. Our product analytics (PostHog) uses local browser storage rather than advertising cookies, does not perform automatic click harvesting, and honors your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
5. Email communications
If you add items to your watchlist, we may email you when their price changes. Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time.
6. Retention & your choices
We keep your account information until you ask us to delete it. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing info@tradesource.app. You can unsubscribe from alert emails at any time, and signing out clears your session.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and delegating credential storage and payment handling to established providers (Clerk and Stripe). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected here.
